ok, a quick note. If any of you have been emailing me for the past 5 days and have not heard a peep ... I was bed ridden. Got some bug, mixed it with traveling, not all the sleep I've needed and over-doing it at TKD is a recipe to bring me down. So, sorry if I haven't replied to your email, I have not been on the computer since last Saturday and believe me, that hasn't happened since the 90's. I'm just about over it, still a little weak. Tomorrow should be like superman.

Just wanted to wish you happy holidays, even though I'm a little late for Christmas or Hanakkah.
We had a great Christmas here in Vail yesterday, snowed a few inches and got to use that snow
on a few slopes.

Government Sneak Attack on California Raw Milk
No more raw milk after January 2008!

Eight words are threatening to change your life:

“or more than ten coliform bacteria per milliliter”

Those are the eight words added to dairy legislation in California on October 8, 2007.

Assembly Bill #1735 (AB 1735) was signed by the Governor and becomes law on January 1st 2008. Contained in this law are new standards for raw milk. These new standards require 10 coliform bacteria per ml or less. This standard does not increase the safety of raw milk and it will make the production of organic raw milk in California nearly impossible. Under the old tried and true old standards that have been in existence for forty years or more, coliforms could be 50 or 500. It did not matter.

Coliforms are not pathogenic. They do not cause disease. They actually act very effectively to protect raw milk against pathogens like E. coli 0157:H7. Coliforms make vitamin K, B-1, B-2, B-6 and B-12 and without coliforms, and the beneficial colicins they produce we would die.

These eight words in California law will in effect remove and deny your access to raw milk, because it is not possible to reliably produce raw milk with coliform levels at less than 10 per ml. Most milk samples simply have coliform counts higher than 10 per ml. That is just the nature of milk, a fact that is in USDA published peer reviewed journals show the value of good coliforms in food safety and surely this should be known by the CDFA in California.

The language contained in AB 1735 was placed there by CDFA to get rid of Raw Milk in California. Last year you might remember that CDFA ordered a recall of all OPDC raw milk products. Several months ago after threatened legal pressure CDFA settled with OPDC for a cash amount, mutual legal release, and the promise that OPDC would not sue CDFA or its personnel for the biased and unfounded recall. FDA, DHS, and CDFA concluded after several weeks of intensive testing of cows fresh manure and OPDC dairy products that there was no connection between any sickened children and OPDC raw dairy products.

AB 1735 is nothing more than a CDFA sneak attack trying its very hardest to once and for all get rid of raw milk and OPDC.

But don’t take my word for it. Go to the California Assembly website and check out the legislative notes. This attack was directed right at you and me and we were not even consulted. Read more here about how to investigate your legislator’s intentions.

Investigate their intent.

It is time for you to call your representative in the Assembly and Senate, the Governor, and the Secretary of Agriculture to make sure your voice is heard.

It is also time to write to your local paper and post on your blog how you feel about these eight new words in California law.

The Agriculture Committee Staff claims that there was no argument or discussion about this issue and that there was unanimous consent during the vote when AB 1735 passed. There were supposedly public hearings held in January 2007, but neither Claravale nor OPDC was advised and no raw milk consumers were told either. These are the only two dairies in the state to be effected by the change of code and law.

If you want raw milk on the shelf or at the farmers market in California; it is time to fight for this right.

We ask that you please come to the Fresno Farmers Market on Saturday October 27th at 11:00 AM for a press conference and formal announcement of the sneak attack.

The press will be present and will want to hear your testimonials.

We do not loose are rights all in one day. We lose them little by little every day.

Stand up and let’s show them what we brave raw milk consumers are made of in California.

Fast Times at Vailmont High

How many of you have noticed our new friends here between Avon and Vail village? In less than a year, I have seen over 3x the amount of officers protecting and serving me, you and everyone else that drives the only road connecting the two towns together. I, for one, am overwhelmed with happiness with our new team-mates. We NEED this type of protection here in the valley...there is nothing more scarier and dangerous than a Subaru going 10 miles over the speed limit on the Interstate Freeway in a complete straight-a-way section of the road (believe me, I know, I drive one). Yesterday, my girlfriend and I counted over 14 of our closest team-mates waiting, watching, watching and waiting to protect and serve. We were so lucky to witness the fruits of this protection over 5 times with their lights on, giving those evil-doing speeders a slap for their money. We simply smiled without words and drove on, feeling 5x safer on our way to Silverthorne. I mean, who are these evil speeders? Who do they think they are to SPEED on our National Holiday...especially Memorial Day?? I know, and I am at ease, that our team-mates are out there, looking over (oops) out for our backs.

What to do now? Please don't tell any of these felons, possibly Terrorists, or some Anti-American on an agenda, that they can actually fight these evil-doing tickets in a court of law. No, NO sir, please don't let the cat out of the bag. Simply pay those tickets, raise your insurance, or if you're lucky... go to traffic school for a whole Saturday and spend an extra 50 dollars on top of it. [Is there stock options for these schools?? Perhaps our Protectors and Servers know]. Our buddies are so nice now, that they will allow these evil evil people to pay their ticket quickly to drop the charge to only 4 points from 6. If they are a good citizen and don't make too much of a fuss. This is how nice our fellow brothers are. We really need to give back to them, show them how grateful we are.

Ladies and Gentlemen, do you have any idea what would happen if people actually found out, no, realized how much power they had?? Oh my, what if EVERYONE fought their tickets in court?? What if, let's say for a hypothetical,... that every terrorist in this valley made our team-mates actually work for that ticket. Hmm, make them, let's say, PROVE that these evil doers (whom are on their way to work) are guilty in a court of law? Uh oh, you know what would happen? Our protectors would have to take time off of their serving at the side of I-70 and actually be accountable for their accusations...the court system would be backed up for months, years...decades!

This is NOT the type of activity we need going on here folks, no way. We need to make sure we enable our protectors, our servers...our team-mates to quickly, efficiently, un-acountably pluck these evil drivers out from their cars on their way to work, raise their insurance, stress their lives, cost them valuable money that could be paying for the retirement of Shell Oil's CEO and MAKE them pay those accusations without any question....so we can hire more and more and more and more and more team-mates, more Protectors, more Servers...to ensure, that we are truly saved. Forget illegal immigration, forget making sure no one is hurt somewhere off some nowhere side-road, and especially; forget if someone is being beat-up by some drunk jughead on a Saturday night.

Let me leave you with this one thought. Hitler and Nazi Germany invented the Audobahn without speed limits. What does that say about the police that patrol our Freeways in such a Nazi fashion?
